Serious about God. Gracious towards people.
First Baptist Church Herington is a Scripture-first church at 201 E. Hawley Street in Herington, Kansas. We are ordinary people (families, retirees, kids, newcomers, longtime members) gathered around one conviction: God has spoken in His Word, and His Word is enough. More than half of the building we worship in was built by the hands of the people who worship here. We hope that tells you something about us. This is a church people give themselves to, not just a place they attend.
We hold to historic, biblical Christianity. The Bible is the written Word of God, true in all it affirms and the final authority for faith and life. There is one God in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Jesus Christ died for sinners and rose bodily from the grave. Salvation is by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone. Where Scripture speaks firmly, we speak firmly. Where Scripture leaves room, we refuse to invent certainty.
We want to be a steady, biblical anchor for Herington and the surrounding area. That means a church that is deeply biblical without being cold, serious about holiness without being self-righteous, and full of grace without being shallow. We preach the Bible plainly. We welcome honest questions. We expect to be changed by the truth, and we expect to grow. Our goal isn't to be impressive. Our goal is to make disciples of Jesus who love God and love their neighbors well.
You don't have to have it all together to walk through our doors. Nobody gets clean before stepping into the shower. Come as you are, bring your questions, and hear the truth clearly. We'd love to meet you on Sunday.
